My Tax Dollars at Work

I just sat down to compose a post, but got called away again.  Tia wanted help chasing the cat.  Onen wanted something to eat.  Onen’s closet, which is also the coat closet has fallen off of the wall and is covering my favorite chair and the dishes need doing.  Then, as if that wasn’t enough, I had to assure the sheriff’s deputy who was responding to a 911 call that we were fine.

Two days ago, Tia got ahold of the phone.  Onen used to play with it when he was a baby so I didn’t think too much about it.  She was sitting next to me pushing buttons.  I heard a woman’s voice, so I took the phone from her and assured the 911 dispatcher that we were fine and promised I wouldn’t let the baby play with the phone anymore.  Then 10 minutes later I answered the phone and assured the deputy that the baby had been playing with the phone and there was no emergency.

This morning I caught Tia with the phone again.  I took it away and told Onen that she wasn’t allowed to use the phone because she might call 911 again.  Then, wouldn’t you know it, the deputy knocked on my door.  Onen had decided to call every number he knew.  So after checking the local time and temperature recording offered by the bank, he called 911.  ARG!!!!!
